Apply for our Research Assistant Grant in your second MSc year
To lighten the financial burden of studying as well as to facilitate the transition from research master’s student to PhD candidate, Maastricht University School of Business and Economics offers Research Assistant positions for which you may receive a grant. You can apply for a Research Assistant position (and the grant) prior to the start of the second year of your MSc Business Research or MSc Economic and Financial Research. Each year, the grant is offered to a maximum of twenty master’s students, divided over the six SBE research programmes.
Research Assistants have many benefits
METEOR, SBE’s Research School, is strongly in favour of working with second-year research master’s students as Research Assistants, as this has proven to be mutually beneficial:
- you are exposed to high-quality academic research and especially the process of doing research very early on in your research career, which provides you with relevant insights into your PhD thesis research;
- you increase your chances of obtaining a PhD position at SBE;
- you (and your colleagues at SBE) gain in-depth experience with your knowledge, capabilities, interests and ambitions;
- you are integrated into the department that might appoint you as a PhD candidate at a later stage and work closely together with METEOR fellows from a department that matches your field of interest;
- the decision-making process with regard to your enrolment in a PhD programme (at SBE or elsewhere) is improved.
